This multiplayer VR scenario aims to create an immersive training experience that equips students with the advanced skills and teamwork abilities to respond effectively and confidently in cardiac emergencies, fostering critical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork and communication, ultimately improving patient outcomes in real-life situations.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify the signs and symptoms of cardiac arrest, including unresponsiveness and absence of breathing.
- Demonstrate chest compressions and rescue breaths at the correct rate and depth for effective resuscitation.
- Effectively communicate and assign roles within the team to optimise patient care.
- Demonstrate the proper use of defibrillator, including how to attach the pads and follow device prompts accurately to deliver shocks as indicated.
- Understand the importance of safety protocols, specifically managing equipment like the Ambu-bag during defibrillation to prevent hazards.
- Demonstrate teamwork in coordination with team members to prepare for advanced interventions, such as administering medications or escalation to advanced airway management.
- Accurately interpret ECG rhythms to differentiate between shockable and non-shockable rhythms. Implement appropriate interventions based on the identified rhythm.
